<nav> tag

Hey!
can you please help in < nav > tag in chapter 16 of common elements in html…i cant really understand the importance of this tag.

My outcome website still works well without the nav tags. So its significance is for easier to read and fix the code?

<nav> meant for more semantic markup (letting the browser know) that those links aren’t just normal links, they are a navigation menu. This can be useful for accessibility (tabs, mobile devices,browsers, such as screen readers for disabled users, can use this element to determine whether to omit the initial rendering of this content.) and other things

if you use html5, you should use <nav>, its better (although on the surface they may appear the same)
