Multiplication commands

#1

Hello,
I am following the First series of the Python course. I ran into a problem when I was trying to assign a value for multiplication.

How could write a code to show the product of multiplication?

The asterix is the symbol commonly used for multiplication.

7 * 6 == 42

For repeat multiplication (exponentiation) we use, **

2 ** 8 == 256

Thank you for the reply.
I figured it out, I think I was over-complicating the command. Why do you use the equal sign twice?

#4

That makes it into a boolean statement that results in True.

a = 7 * 6
a == 42    =>  True
b = 2 ** 8
b == 256   =>  True
