Mix n' Match question

#1

I haven't taken math in awhile and I'm a little confused regarding the ** (to the power of) expressions.

I understand that 6 ** 2 == 36. Meaning that 6 is multiplied by itself one time.

Here is my question:

Does 6 ** 1 == 6? meaning that 6 is not multiplied by itself
And does 6 ** 0 == 6 as well? Meaning that 6 is not multiplied by itself.

Thanks,
Adam

Oops, I just realized this question should have gone into a different lesson section.

I apologize in advance for the redundancy here,

Thanks,
Adam

  • Anything to the first power, or (x ** 1) will always be itself, or (x).

  • Anything to the zero power, or (x ** 0) will always be zero.

hope this helps,

@nickgrimes50: Actually anything to the power of zero, (x ** 0) , will always be one.

print (12345 ** 0) # 1

Even on programming or real life mathematics.

@g4be: Haha indeed. A few hours of sleep a night are beginning to take it's toll on me.
