May I request that the community emails be way clearer?

I was directed here from the CC discord server where at least two users (I’m one of them) missed out on registering for today’s Community Project Showcase because the only email about it was from “Lillian” (not “Lillian at Codecademy”) and the subject line was about Python. Clicking into the email reveals that in fact the email is about registering for the event, sharing some new questions from the forums, offering some career development tips, and then at the very bottom there’s a link to a post about different types of Python. Since I’m not learning Python I didn’t open that email.

Is there a better way for us to be getting information about meetups we might like to attend? I don’t think “open every email just in case there’s something good in there” is a workable solution, so I’m hoping CC can figure out a way to communicate when these things are happening. As far as I know I’m subscribed to every email newsletter CC offers so I do think the problem is in how the information is packaged and presented, not in whether it’s getting to me or not.

Hey @rkaufman13 First, my sincerest apologies for not being clearer about what’s in the email. I see what you mean. Secondly, thank you for sharing this feedback! It’s much appreciated. I will think about how to make the newsletter’s subject line clearer to better reflect all of the content that’s in the newsletter. I apologize for the confusion!

Regarding a better way to get information about meetups — I recommend you join any chapter that looks interesting to you. That way, for the chapters you’re a part of, you’ll receive a notification when those chapters host an event/meetup. Does that help? Let me know, happy to chat more

Thanks, that does make sense. I think I’m part of the “virtual” meetup now (which I didn’t understand was a thing until today either), are there other CC-wide meetups I might want to be a part of? I also only heard about the Phaser hackathon because I happened to be in the right place at the right time–would be great to be notified by email about any of those coming up in the future.

Yes, we also have an events page where we’ll post events that the wider Codecademy team puts on. We do not have any upcoming events scheduled, but for the future, reference this page: www.codecademy.com/events
