Does it work if you type https://localhost:8000 instead? (note the https)? Also, do you have any browser addons that might be affecting the exercise?
No difference between clicking the link and typing it. I ended up getting it to work by just clicking the link repeatedly for a bit and it finally registered. The only browser extension I have is lastpass so no.
