Lesson Number One

#1

What am i doing wrong?

lloyd = {
    "name": Lloyd
    "homework": []
    "quizzes": []
    "tests": []
}
alice = {
    "name": Alice
    "homework": []
    "quizzes": []
    "tests": []
}
tyler = {
    "name": Tyler
    "homework": []
    "quizzes": []
    "tests": []
}

#2

here:

"name": Lloyd

Lloyd is a undefined variable, what data-type should Lloyd be here?

#3

it should be a key??

#4

key is not a data-type, string, integers, lists are data-types.

#5

so how do i fix my code?

#6

The names are supposed to be strings.

#7

Oops, try again. Did you create a dictionary named lloyd? Your code threw a "global name 'lloyd' is not defined" error.

im still getting this error

#8

Let me see your code...

#9

lloyd = {
    "name": 'Lloyd'
    "homework": []
    "quizzes": []
    "tests": []
}
alice = {
    "name": "Alice"
    "homework": []
    "quizzes": []
    "tests": []
}
tyler = {
    "name": "Tyler"
    "homework": []
    "quizzes": []
    "tests": []
}

#10

Well, now Alice and Tyler are strings, but Lloyd is still not. To make a string you can either use "" or ''. However, you do not do this for Lloyd. For some reason, you use backticks.

#11

ahhhh gotcha tnx!!!!

#12

Well now it gave me this error

Oops, try again. Did you create a dictionary named lloyd? Your code threw a "global name 'lloyd' is not defined" error.

#13

your dictionary is missing a few comma's (,) to separate key value pairs

#14

That fixed it! tnx a million
