Lesson 26 error

#1

I keep getting this message "Oops, try again.
Did you remember to put some link text between your tags? You can't leave them empty!"
It's not empty! Have tried all the fixes I can find for that lesson in the forums- still no go- can't get beyond it :frowning:
Here is my code:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
    <link type="text/css"; rel="stylesheet"; href="stylesheet.css"> </link>
        <title>Result</title>
    </head>
    <body>
        <h1>This is my Heading</h1>
        <a href="http://wokoffame.ca/Home.html">Flowery Food</a>
        <img src="http://science-all.com/images/flowers/flowers-07.jpg"> </img>

#2

is this your full code? attributes (type, rel, href) are separated by spaces, and not semi-colons, and images and links are self closing:

<img src="url" />

they don't have a closing tag

#3

@tizzer,
The img-Tag and link-Tag HTML do not need a closing-Tag as they are so-called =self-closing=
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/link
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/img
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/a

#4

Thank you. Tried that- no result....any other ideas?

#5

Thanks, tried that too, also no effect- still same error message.

#6

please post an updated version of your full code

#7

Here is corrected code that still gives error message.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
    <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="stylesheet.css">
        <title>Result</title>
    </head>
    <body>
        <h1>This is my Heading</h1>
        <a href="http://wokoffame.ca/Home.html">Flowery Food</a>
        <img src="http://science-all.com/images/flowers/flowers-07.jpg">
        <p>I am putting any text I like in here as directed by the directions.</p>
        <p>Gee this is so much fun!</p>
    </body>
</html>

your code is fine, seems your browser is sending cached data, try a different browser

#9

@tizzer,
Or try a refresh Browser

++++ reset of session *****************
under certain circumstances you can shoot your Browser in an
inconsistent state.

Therefor it is of an advantage to know that you have 2 reset facilities:

One is the use of the F5-key which does a refresh Browser

and

Two, select&copy your code
Then use the Reset Code button of the course-window,
then paste your code back in.

Addendum
General Notes:
Always refresh the browser after making corrections:
CTRL f5 ( if on Windows or Linux)
CMD r ( if on a MAC).

Thanks everyone- I restarted the browser- just refreshing was not enough- and all is fine :slight_smile:
