Hi, I am new to coding I can't understand meaning of some terms in instructions.Can anybody help me with these-

Built-in methods are called, or used, by **appending** an instance with a period, the name of the method, and opening (() and closing ()) parentheses. Consider the examples below:

What is meant by appending in the instruction paragraph.If anybody can simplify above paragraph it will be great help. As far as I can understand they are asking me to join two strings by "point(.)"

it simply means to add a full stop (.) after the instance followed by the method name:

instance.methodName()
