Hi @julia_programmer, I think you are getting a bit off track there!

I'm not sure where the myName from or the first console.log.

Here is the first task:

// Declare a variable on line 3 called
// myCountry and give it a string value.
var myCountry = "Whatever Your Country Is Called";

Then the second task is:

// Use console.log to print out the length of the variable myCountry.
console.log(myCountry.length );

You almost have the third task right. Now that you've worked through the first two steps and you see how using a variable called myCountry works, can you fix the error in this line:

console.log ("myCountry".substring(0,3));
