I'm guessing that those Java/JavaScript comments ( // false ) are not in the Ruby code? If they are then that is the problem. Ruby should be raising an exception in the console.

(ruby):1: unterminated regexp meets end of file

Your code does pass once the alien stuff is removed.

# test_1 should be false
test_1 = 1 == 55685856677

# test_2 = should be false
test_2 = 12312 == 12342422

# test_3 = should be true
test_3 = 9 == 9
