Issues with word up .lower

Hey guys, i punched in the code below and instead of changing the font to lowercase, it printed the word the same exact way I input it.

I typed in BANANA and it printed BANANA. What am I doing wrong?

pyg = 'ay'

original = raw_input('Enter a word:')

if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
    word = original.lower()
    first = word[0]
    print original
    print 'empty'

You're not printing word, which is original.lower, you're printing original

Ah jeez. Thanks! :flushed:
