Issue with the instructions

#1

there seems to be an issue with the <!DOCTYPE> tag. It would not let me submit the code looking like this:

<!DOCTYPE>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>Webpage</title>
    </head>
    <body>

    </body>
</html>

But it did work when I added the <!DOCTYPE html> into the code, like so:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
    <head>
        <title>Webpage</title>
    </head>
    <body>

    </body>
</html>

#2

<!DOCTYPE html> is a language setting class basically. It tells the code what to do from that point. So if you don't tell the doctype what language it's looking at it'll get confused.

I agree lolman! Maybe I should have been more clear. The instructions say to add <!DOCTYPE> to the top of the page. When you do that, submitting the code does not work, you have to specify <!DOCTYPE html>, then you can submit the code.

this exercise is a recap exercise, it tells your knowledge. If the exercise would have told you needed to use <!DOCTYPE html> many people would have copy pasted it without any thinking

in html basic you learned in html basic what the correct doctype declaration is
