Issue with lesson 9

#1

I have an issue with task 1 in lesson 9.

I have changed the code as requested, but nothing happens and the task does not resolve.

html, body {
  min-height: 100%;
  display: flex;
  flex-direction: column;
  font-weight: 300;
  line-height: 1.5;
}

body {
  font-family: 'Lato', sans-serif;
  background-image: url('https://s3.amazonaws.com/codecademy-content/projects/make-a-website/lesson-3/background.jpg');
  background-position: center top;
  background-size: cover;
  margin: 0;
}

a {
  color: #204156;
  text-decoration: none;
}

.page-title {
  text-align: center;
  font-weight: 100;
}

.page-description {
  border: 1px solid #000;
  margin: 2px;
  text-align: center;
  padding: 30px;
}

.gallery {
  margin-top: 20px;
  display: flex;
}

.gallery-item {
  margin: 20px;
}

.gallery-item .thumbnail {
  border: 5px solid #fff;
}

/* FOOTER NAVIGATION */

nav {
  background-color: #FFF;
}

nav li {
  display: inline;
  margin: 0;
  padding: 0 10px;
}

nav ul {
  display: inline;
}

.contact-btn {
  float: right;
}

.contact-btn a {
  cursor: pointer;
  margin-right: 30px;
  padding: 8px 18px;
  border: 1px solid #204156;

}

.contact-btn a:active {

}

nav a {
  height: 60px;
  line-height: 60px;
  color: #204156;
  text-decoration: none;
}

Replying to keep this post from closing. No tangible solutions from anyone and I'm this same problem.

#3

It should be .nav a as nav is a class not a tag

If you are still getting an error paste in your error and updated code..

still getting the same error, it says 'Did you add a display of flex to the .gallery selector in main.css?' The code is written as so:

html, body {
min-height: 100%;
display: flex;
flex-direction: column;
font-weight: 300;
line-height: 1.5;
}

body {
font-family: 'Lato', sans-serif;
background-image: url('https://s3.amazonaws.com/codecademy-content/projects/make-a-website/lesson-3/background.jpg');
background-position: center top;
background-size: cover;
margin: 0;
}

a {
color: #204156;
text-decoration: none;
}

.page-title {
text-align: center;
font-weight: 100;
}

.page-description {
border: 1px solid #000;
margin: 2px;
text-align: center;
padding: 30px;
}

.gallery {
margin-top: 20px;
display: flex;
}

.gallery-item {
margin: 20px;
}

.gallery-item .thumbnail {
border: 5px solid #fff;
}

/* FOOTER NAVIGATION */

nav {
background-color: #FFF;
}

nav li {
display: inline;
margin: 0;
padding: 0 10px;
}

nav ul {
display: inline;
}

.contact-btn {
float: right;
}

.contact-btn a {
cursor: pointer;
margin-right: 30px;
padding: 8px 18px;
border: 1px solid #204156;

}

.contact-btn a:active {

}

.nav a {
height: 60px;
line-height: 60px;
color: #204156;
text-decoration: none;
}

I'm having the same issue. I've added "display: flex;" to the .gallery class selector in main.css but it won't complete the exercise:

html, body {
min-height: 100%;
display: flex;
flex-direction: column;
font-weight: 300;
line-height: 1.5;
}

body {
font-family: 'Lato', sans-serif;
background-image: url('https://s3.amazonaws.com/codecademy-content/projects/make-a-website/lesson-3/background.jpg');
background-position: center top;
background-size: cover;
margin: 0;
}

a {
color: #204156;
text-decoration: none;
}

.page-title {
text-align: center;
font-weight: 100;
}

.page-description {
border: 1px solid #000;
margin: 2px;
text-align: center;
padding: 30px;
}

.gallery {
margin-top: 20px;
display: flex;
}

.gallery-item {
margin: 20px;
}

.gallery-item .thumbnail {
border: 5px solid #fff;
}

/* FOOTER NAVIGATION */

nav {
background-color: #FFF;
}

nav li {
display: inline;
margin: 0;
padding: 0 10px;
}

nav ul {
display: inline;
}

.contact-btn {
float: right;
}

.contact-btn a {
cursor: pointer;
margin-right: 30px;
padding: 8px 18px;
border: 1px solid #204156;

}

.contact-btn a:active {

}

nav a {
height: 60px;
line-height: 60px;
color: #204156;
text-decoration: none;
}

#6

Okay, I went back to the previous exercise, then I went forward to 9. After refreshing it worked.

#7

I'm still stuck on the same one question (9/11). I can't seem to go forward even though I've done entered "flex" in the right place. Is going back and forward all you did?

#8

I got back to level 8 and (again) forward to level 9.
Now it's working fine.

#9

This topic is quite messed up can those who still need help tell me so I can move your code with post to a new topic ? If no reply within a few days this topic will close, so let me know if you guys are sorted or not !

#10

I reset the exercise and went back to lesson 8 and moved forward to lesson 9. I then re-entered the code and it worked. Not sure why but I am able to move on

#11

yeah, that really helps!!
