Im on part 10 and i need help

#1

Why does this keep showing?:oops, try again. It looks like you printed the correct translation of "hello", but make sure to set new_word equal to the slice as well.
This is my code:

pyg = 'ay'
original = raw_input('Enter a word:')
word = original.lower()
first = word[0]
new_word = word + first + pyg
print new_word[1:len(new_word)]
if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
print original
else:
print 'empty'

#2

Sounds like an issue with how the assignment is tested. It wants the correct result to be in the 'new_word' variable. Split the line

print new_word[1:len(new_word)]

into the two lines

new_word=new_word[1:len(new_word)]
print new_word

And it should pass

#3

I think you would want

new_word = new_word[1:]

instead :relaxed:

My completed code for the Pyg Latin section is

pyg = 'ay'
original = raw_input('Enter a word:')
if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
word = original.lower()
#making the word lower case
first = word[0]
new_word = word + first + pyg
new_word = new_word[1:]
#using a sting to make the original word pyg latin

else:
print 'empty'
#if the word entered has any non-alphabetical figures in it or no word is enterd then 'empty' is returned#

This was passed so I hope it helps :smile:
