If/else recap is bugged

I've done exactly what the lesson says, typed the code correctly. The console returns the error messages "ReferenceError: isEven is not defined
ReferenceError: Invalid left-hand side in assignment"
the lesson returns the message "Oops, try again. It looks like you have a ReferenceError. Maybe you forgot to define a function named isEven?"

clearly the lesson is bugged. I've tried running the exact code below in both Chrome and Firefox. This is the second strange issue I've encountered with the codecademy environment. Would someone give me a hand and see what, if anything, I'm missing, or could a mod pass me through the lesson if I've not missed anything?

var isEven = function(number) {
  // Your code goes here!
  if (number%2 = 0) {
      return true;
  }
  else {
      return false;
  }
};

make this,

if(number % 2 === 0){

everything else seems fine

thank you. That was a rookie mistake, haha.
