I can't intend the code to match the W3C standard

#1
<body>
  <h1>Whitespace</h1>
  <div>
    <p>Whitespace indentation make html documents easier to read.</p>
  </div>
</body>

#2

Do you mean, indent?

W3C does not have a standard when it comes to whitespace, only recommendations. There is no validation checkpoint when it comes to indentation.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
  <meta charset="UTF-8">
  <title>Whitespace</title>
</head>
<body>
  <h1>Whitespace</h1>
  <div>
    <p>Whitespace indentation make html documents easier to read.</p>
  </div>
</body>
</html>

Copy and paste the above document into the Direct Input tab of validator.w3.org and we see it validates. Remove all the indents, and even all the line breaks and it will still validate.

<!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en"><head><meta charset="UTF-8"><title>Whitespace</title></head><body><h1>Whitespace</h1><div><p>Whitespace indentation make html documents easier to read.</p></div></body></html>

If you are having difficulty passing a lesson, please post a link to that lesson so we can run and test your code. Thanks.
