I am not very good at codeing need help

it says "SyntaxError: missing before statement" here is my code:
var quarter() = function(number){
return number / 4;

if ( quarter(number) % 3 === 0 ) {
console.log("The statement is true");
} else {
console.log("The statement is false");

Find a function within the course that worked and compare it to the function you've created in this exercise.

What you have is very nearly correct.

var quarter = function (number) {
    // ...

We need a variable to which we assign the function reference. Calling the function will include the parens,

console.log(quarter(12)); // 3

Note that the argument is a number primitive (or some defined variable).

Hint: We used 12 in the example to demonstrate the quotient as being divisible by 3. Any multiple of 12, (the LCM of 3 and 4) will satisfy the conditional.
