How to answer questions in the console?

#1

Lesson 15 is asking questions, and the provided Hint says to “Click inside the console window, type in your name, and then press Enter (or Return)” - but where should I be typing this? When I type my name on line 7, and hit enter, nothing happens.

Strings and Console Output

name = raw_input(“What is your name?”)
quest = raw_input(“What is your quest?”)
color = raw_input(“What is your favorite color?”)

print "Ah, so your name is %s, your quest is %s, "
“and your favorite color is %s.” % (name, quest, color)

When you Run the code, does it prompt you in the console for your name?

What is your name? ____ < type your name here

In the event you are seeing all three prompts scrunched up together, there does appear to be an issue with the SCT. A possible work around would be to set the three variables manually and comment out the three input lines.

name = "yourname"
quest = "4.0 GPA"
color = "green"

It’s more important that you get to see the string formatting at work and get a feel for what this lesson is intended to instruct. If raw_input gives you problems in future lessons, just apply this work around.

Thanks for the help! The console does provide the name prompt, but I’m not able to type into the console. It seemed to work on a later Exercise so maybe it’s just buggy.
