How do I assign a value to a variable?

In the above statement, todays_date is a variable used to identify a string. We never wrap variables in quotes, else they become plain text strings.

print ("todays_date")  =>  todays_date

print (todays_date)    =>  10th of June

Just for the s&g, try this in the console…

"todays_date" = "10th of June"

We already know what will happen, but you should see it with your own eyes, and read the error message carefully. Connect the dots and now you have something cemented that will never be forgotten.
