Please tell me if I am doing something wrong

https://www.codecademy.com/courses/learn-python/lessons/strings--console-output/exercises/string-formatting-with--part--1?action=lesson_resume

error message vvvvv

What is your name?What is your quest?What is your favorite color?Ah, so your name is SCT, your quest is if type(error) == ValueError:, and your favorite color is return "Make sure to use a lowercase \"s\" with \%s. Python told us about the following error: " + str(error).

I expected it to ask me the input questions for i can input the values but it just keep skiping to the error message above

name = raw_input("What is your name?")
quest = raw_input("What is your quest?")
color = raw_input("What is your favorite color?")
print "Ah, so your name is %s, your quest is %s, " \
"and your favorite color is %s." % (name, quest, color)

there are problems with raw_input, can you confirm overwriting the variables work:

name = raw_input("What is your name?")
quest = raw_input("What is your quest?")
color = raw_input("What is your favorite color?")
name = "name"
quest = "quest"
color = "color"

#3

The following doesn’t work

name = raw_input("What is your name?")
quest = raw_input("What is your quest?")
color = raw_input("What is your favorite color?")
name = 'ash'
quest = 'be the very best'
color = 'red'
print "Ah, so your name is %s, your quest is %s, " \
"and your favorite color is %s." % (name, quest, color)

This works though vv

name = 'ash'
quest = 'be the very best'
color = 'red'
print "Ah, so your name is %s, your quest is %s, " \
"and your favorite color is %s." % (name, quest, color)

site let me continue past the lesson with the second one

okay, so overwriting the variable isn’t enough, the prompts have to be entirely replaced, good to know :slight_smile:

thanks for helping me figure it out :slight_smile:

#6

And i was thinking about paying for the pro version but I can see this has bugs on it. :frowning: pretty sad about this.

#7

The bug is in a exercise of the free section, not the pro version

We are currently at work on a solution

#8

i’ll give it a try, now im curious of what raw_input does and why there is an error

The Python course has been moved to a new environment, this affected progress. This change was announced in

  • Codecademy’s Blog
  • In the exercises themselves
  • You may have even received an e-mail

The Codecademy Team did its best to get this announcement out to everyone and is working very hard to find and fix any and all issues caused by this move. Issues, such as raw_input() bug, are no doubt being worked on as we speak.
