Help on word up

my code keeps asking me if i inserted a word variable
and I don't get what' first_letter = ' is supposed to mean.
somebody heeeeeeeeelp meeeeeeeeeee

Suppose we had a variable with reference to "something".

word = "something"
first = word[0]

first is a copy of the first letter in word. If we print it, we get,

print (first)     # s

A string is an iterable so it has an index. That is why we can write, word[0]. It is an expected identifier given that word exists with length > 0.

Thanks a lot~:slightly_smiling:
