Looks good so far. At this point we do not need to print original so that line may be removed. It appears you are on the step that combines string to form a new_word. Write that line where print original is, right now.

Be sure your indentation is consistent and correct.

pyg = '...'
original = ...
if ...
    word = '...'
    first = ...
    new_word = ...
else:
    print 'empty'
