Help me solve counting function executions , and win loose count

/*Hi, I’m new here, am stuck in a challenge, the number guesser, and really want to finish it because I got quite competitive with my computer about it :smiley:
Can anybody tell me what is going wrong with my function layout below? I can’t reach understanding why the humanScore or computerScore won’t update when I run a function with, +=1 to it. Same applies to currentRoundNumber. I can’t manage to update them.
Code-love and appreciation for your help. Thank you!

My best attempt is below, thank you for any guidance!*/

//JavaScript Challenge starts here:

let humanScore = 0;
let computerScore = 0;
let currentRoundNumber = 1;

const newRound = (currentRoundNumber) =>{
updateScore();
currentRoundNumber+=1;
console.log("Round: "+currentRoundNumber);
}
// Write your code below:

const generateTarget = () => {
  return Math.floor(Math.random() * 9);
};
const  human = generateTarget();

console.log("Random Number:" + generateTarget());

//middle function
const compareGuesses = () => {
  target = generateTarget();
  computer = generateTarget();
  console.log("Computer guess: " + computer);
  console.log("Human guess: " + human);
  humanGuess = target - human;
  computerGuess = target - computer;
  if (humanGuess < computerGuess) {
    return "human";
  } else {
    return "computer";
  }
};
//update score and Wins count

const computerWins=()=>{
return computerScore+=1
}
const humanWins=()=>{
return humanScore+=1
}

//add some drama

const game = () => {
  if (compareGuesses() === human) {
    return "You Win";
  } else {
    return "You loose!";
  }
}

const updateScore = (winner) => {
  winner = compareGuesses();
  console.log(winner)
  if (winner === computer) {
computerWins() } else {
    humanWins()
  }
  ;return game()

};

console.log(humanScore+" scores "+computerScore)
//run functions
console.log("RUN FUNCTIONS:");
newRound(currentRoundNumber);
console.log("Computer Score:" + computerScore);
console.log("Human Score:" + humanScore);

I haven’t evaluated everything, but to start, you need to put computer in quotes. You want a string comparison, currently you are comparing winner to an undeclared variable.

if (winner === 'computer')

thank you! I did eventually manage to solve this! on the next level now! <3
