// Declare a variable on line 3 called
// myCountry and give it a string value.
var myCountry = "United States"

// Use console.log to print out the length of the variable myCountry.
console.log("myCountry".length);

// Use console.log to print out the first three letters of myCountry.
console.log("myCountry".substring(0,3) );

#2

"myCountry".length will give you 9
myCountry.length will give you 13

That is because, in your program, myCountry has the value "United States".

Do you see how that works now?

#3

i also have the same problem and i have been trying to figure it out for a while and i seem not to be getting the answer to it..

#4

Remove the quotes and you should be good. The quotes turn the value of myCountry into a string instead of the stored value you put.
