Grades_Varience is Missing?


When I run the code I get this message "Oops, try again. grades_variance seems to be missing!" even though the answer is correct (the 334.07..). Can someone help me figure out why it won't accept it?

grades = [100, 100, 90, 40, 80, 100, 85, 70, 90, 65, 90, 85, 50.5]

def print_grades(grades):
    for grade in grades:
        print grade

def grades_sum(grades):
    total = 0
    for grade in grades: 
        total += grade
    return total
def grades_average(grades):
    sum_of_grades = grades_sum(grades)
    gaverage = sum_of_grades / float(len(grades))
    return gaverage

def grades_varience(scores):
    average = grades_average(scores)
    varience = 0
    for i in scores:
        varience += (average - i)**2
    total_varience = varience/float(len(scores))
    return total_varience

print grades_varience(grades)


Check the name of your function!


This is casting a counting number as a float. How about declaring the float further up the function chain, in grades_sum.

total = float(0)


And spelling in general. variance.
