Getting started with github

I am on the python3 pro track and I am stuck on Getting Started with Git and GitHub.
https://www.codecademy.com/paths/computer-science/tracks/cspath-development-skills/modules/learn-git-git-workflow-u/articles/f1-u3-git-setup

Git is installed locally on my linux machine. git version 2.21.0
I created the git_practice repository on git hub. I created a readme file on the local computer.

Typing this
git remote add origin https://github.com/petertrussell/git_practice.git
git push -u origin master

After the last line there is a problem.
I keep getting a dialog box Enter ssh passphrase. Its not the password to the github website and an empty box also causes the push to fail. So I dont know what to do. Any suggestions?

Hi @tag8748261960

Can you run the following from the terminal please?

$ git remote -v

If you get output which looks like this:

> origin  git@github.com:USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git (fetch)
> origin  git@github.com:USERNAME/REPOSITORY.git (push)

then Git is trying to communicate with the remote using SSH, which would explain why you’re being prompted for an SSH passphrase.

You can find instructions on changing a remote URL from SSH to HTTPS here, on GitHub.
