Functionality broken

No matter what I type as input the program is throwing false statements. Input is not being stored in variable.

I expect the program to work.

print 'Welcome to the Pig Latin Translator!'

# Start coding here!
raw_input("Enter a word:")
original = raw_input()

if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
    print original
    print "empty"

Top line is doing nothing but asking for input. The second asks for input and caches it, but has no prompt. Add the text to the second one, and remove the first.

original = raw_input("Enter a word: ")

Thank you very much!
