Front-end engineer career path - suggested reading

I’m just getting started in the front-end engineer career path, and one of the books for recommended reading is HTML and CSS: Design and Build Websites by Jon Duckett. It was published in 2011 and the introduction mentions that HTML5 was still in development at the time.

Since the book is over 10 years old at this point, is some of the content out of date? Should I take what I read with a grain of salt? Or have HTML and CSS not really changed substantially since the book was published?

Can I count on the lessons being up to date? I am new to coding, so I don’t really have a frame of reference for how fast things change, but I want to make sure what I’m learning is current.

Thank you,

Check the replies give in Amazon’s website for these books. I’m a beginner as well, and plan to purchase the books for reference as other experienced developers have suggested. As for the instruction on newer standards, I reserve judgement until I’ve gone through the content with Codecademy.
