I want to use font families like Quicksand and Antic that are available on a GoogleDoc but CodeAcademy won’t recognize them. Where can I find the list of font families that are available, or can I add font families?

You can always add font-family’s. I am sure if you do a google search you can find how to add custom fonts

Google Fonts and Font Library both are good resources for free webfonts that host the fonts themselves so you don’t have to worry about it
