Why we declare “defaultProps” outside of a class body? Wouldn’t it be more convenient to have it stored in class definition?

I had this same question. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the defaultProps as part of the component class?

You can do this, but per this blog post you should use the static keyword to define the property when you do that.
