I wonder if I am reading the instructions wrong as I am generating a different answer from other users in this thread.
Let’s use the sample size calculator to answer the following questions:
Our Date-an-Analyst dataset has 200 entries, meaning that our current sample size is equal to 200. If we have a 5% margin of error, 95% confidence level, and a likely sample proportion of 50%, what size does our overall population need to be?
What if the population of Date-an-Analyst users is closer to 5,000? Keeping the same values for margin of error, confidence level, and likely sample proportion, what should the size of our sample be?
My answers are as follows;
132
357
If the same size is 200 with a 5% margin of error, 95% confidence level and likely sample proportion of 50%, the answer I am receiving is 132, where as other learners appear to be generating 418. I am going wrong somewhere and if someone could assist me it would be greatly appreciated!
@spamathome - In the first bullet point, the objective is to change the “Population Size” input (with the 5% margin of error, 95% confidence level, and likely sample proportion of 50%) to make the Sample Size output equal to the 200 entries.
Based on your 132 answer, it seems as though you’ve put in “200” as the Population Size. If you input “418” (with the other settings noted), you’ll end up with the Sample Size of 200.
