Hi all,

My question in about lemmatisation…

When you work through the end exercise (footnote 1), the final results i get are:

tokeized_string = [‘working’, ‘in’, ‘local’, ‘media’, ‘she’, ‘was’, ‘both’, ‘the’, ‘youngest’, ‘news’, ‘anchor’, ‘and’, ‘the’, ‘first’, ‘black’, ‘female’, ‘news’, ‘anchor’, ‘at’, ‘nashville’, “'s”, ‘wlac-tv’, ‘.’]

lemmatized_string = [‘work’, ‘in’, ‘local’, ‘medium’, ‘she’, ‘be’, ‘both’, ‘the’, ‘young’, ‘news’, ‘anchor’, ‘and’, ‘the’, ‘first’, ‘black’, ‘female’, ‘news’, ‘anchor’, ‘at’, ‘nashville’, “'s”, ‘wlac-tv’, ‘.’]

I am concerned about ‘media’ being ‘lemmatised’ to ‘medium’… This feels wrong to me?

How would I go about fixing this?

Looking fwd to your reply.

Footnote 1:
Exercises to complete:

  1. Select only the string within the <p> tags.
  2. Remove all periods.
  3. Make all of the words lowercase.
  4. Tokenize the string.
  5. Lemmatize the string.
