As we click on turtle link it shows 404 code then when i click back button it takes to me dog page…? why? it should take me to home page rather taking me to dogs page.
It may be that the history is disrupted by the 404 response and takes us back to the page we previously viewed. Not only that, Back to home might not be getting recorded in the history. I suspect this behavior is confined to the mini-browser since it is in an iframe.
Does the training work fully on iOS? When i click on the Dogs or Cats link from the Index file, nothing happens….also when i click on the Turtles link no 404 error occurs……may it be i need to dig out my 8-yr old laptop?
When you see a “404 Not Found” error, it means that the server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
Good point, about whether or not the condition it temporary or permanent. I have seen other website issues such as the infamous “web undergoing maintenance” condition.
Are we supposed to actually do any coding for this lesson? Lol I’m a bit confused - or are we just supposed to click on the “Turtles” link and see how the 404 error shows up ?
“Nothing to see here!” That’s what 404 Status is telling us. For the site it is also a bad sign if they are frequent since it will be a big negative hit on search indexing and ranking for the site. If one’s site is meant to be an important going concern then it pays to have a service crawl it frequently and report any broken links or 404 status of any missing pages.
Thank you! I was wondering as-well, I wish they would have clarified this in the lesson that it’s just for us to see and not for us to try to fix. Just through me off because of the not sure if this is the right word but “command prompt”. Thank you for clarifying for us!
