Ok, so maybe my mind is still looking at c# like it´s c and all those problems are automatically solved already in this language but
In this example:
places.AddRange(new string { “fifth”, “sixth” });

when you create a new string, doesn´t it consume memory? So isn´t doing something like this and not assigning a variable to it dangerous/bad practice because you will have a memory that has been consumed and nothing pointing at it?

Anything in memory that has nothing pointing to it, as in, has no references, is flagged for garbage collection by the system. When more memory is needed, garbage collected memory is freed up.

It looks like places is being appended, in this instance so the strings do have a place to go.

I thought that back then in October 2020, you didn’t know C#(you probably didn’t know it because you are still have little knowledge now). You’re just learning it now(you said you’re 11% through this course just a few days ago).

11% is well past the percentage of my likelihood to ever use it. This is just me out for a run.

When we see code that is obviously going to be compiled, we can decipher it quickly just by looking at the types. That is how it is possible to sort of identify code, by the way it illustrates this.


What language uses that type declaration?

No, I meant you were 11% through the Learn C# Course not the likelihood to ever use it.

Do you mean you are just going beyond your limits but just guessing what the code means>

Do you mean, you don’t need to know C# to understand it?

I am not sure.
