What does it mean to find “the ones’ place of an integer.”? Why 2%10 returns 2 ?


For example in number 1234:
1 is for thousands
2 is for hundreds
3 is for tenths
4 is for ones

Its simple naming in math, so this is more about translation to native language. I had same struggle, so I googled it.

I had tried this code below and it work. i hope you will find it useful if you go a head try it out.
ones_place = lambda num: num % 10

I asked that question myself until I really thought about it

% finds the remainder after you have divided by a number
for example 4%2= 0 because it divides evenly
3%2 = 1 because there was one left over after dividing by 2

so %10 shows us the ones place because it shows us the remainder after dividing by 10

43%10 ~ 10 goes into 40 4 times with 3 left over = 3

2%10 ~ 10 goes into 2 0 times with 2 leftover
