Why do I need a SUM(reviews) for this query? The ‘reviews’ column is described as the number of reviews.

The ‘reviews’ column is the number of reviews for each app. Since we are interested in the total number of reviews in each genre, we need to sum the reviews column.

Was not letting me get past step 2 for this reason:

After changing to match the solution I was still not allowed to pass when clicking run.

Only when i clicked ‘Replace with solution’ did it finally let me through.

I’m having the same problem. My code was identical to the solution, but it wouldn’t let me continue until I clicked “replace with solution”.

Thanks, I had the same issue. Seems to be an error in the solution, @codecademy please check this.

It only let me pass once I included both answers to question 1 and 2:

SELECT genre, COUNT(id)

FROM apps

GROUP BY genre;

SELECT genre, SUM(reviews)

FROM apps

GROUP BY genre

HAVING SUM(reviews) > 30000000;
