In all previous exercises I’ve been using the " " quotation marks instead of ’ ’ , but in here I couldn’t proceed unless I typed it with the latter. Is it just a mistake here or does it actually matter which one we use?

Nope, the exercise just never stated to first delete the query you typed from the previous exercise. In other words, submit only the one query relevant to this specific exercise.
