Why does the example have:
“const removed = newItemTracker.pop();”
rather than the same way the solution is:
“newItemTracker.pop();” ?

I think you are referring to this exercise.

If we simply want to remove the last item from an array and don’t want to use the last item later in our code, then newItemTracker.pop(); is appropriate.

However if we don’t want to just discard the last element but make use of it somewhere later in our code, then we can store the popped element in a variable.

const removed = newItemTracker.pop();
