Every house needs a frame ... and I need help

#1

This is my code ( . = < , otherwise it wouldn't show up :confused:):

.!DOCTYPE html>
.head>
.title>Task
./head>
.body>

./body>
./html>

But it keeps saying:

:rotating_light:Oops, try again. Make sure you put in your open tag!

Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Your html opening tag is missing, it should be after <!DOCTYPE html>. If you don't remember, you can revisit html basic for a refresher

for next time, use one of the two following options to make your code/indent is visible:

select your code and press ctrl + shift + c (or cmd + shift + c if you use a mac)

if this instructions are unclear, you can also insert 3 backticks before and after your code, like so:

```
<p>visible</p>
```

the backtick is located above the tab key on your keyboard

I have an html opening tag... but thanks for the heads up about formatting. :slightly_smiling:

#4

No, you do not, where do you have the html opening tag?

#5

Or do I need another html opening tag?

#6

Ohh... sorry I was confused. I thought that the html in the DOCTYPE tag counted.
Thanks

#7

yea, you do. You don't have one. After the doctype deceleration:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<!-- html opening tag -->
<head>

No, that is the doctype declaration, that is something else then the html opening tag. Seems you figured it out

#8

yup
thanks for your help

#9

you're welcome, one other thing, you can use the format instructions i provided you don't have to remove < from a tag. Actually, two things. The second thing, posting full answers is not according to the guidelines, you may help people by replying to there topic
