Ending up Pyg Latin

#1

Hey everyone,
This is the code I have so far
pyg = 'ay'

original = raw_input('Enter a word:')

if len(original) > 0 and original.isalpha():
word = original.lower()
first = word[0]
new_word = word + first + pyg
new_word[1:len(new_word)]
print new_word[1:len(new_word)]
else:
print 'empty'

And when I run it I get the right translation but I get an error that tells me to make sure I set new_word equal to the slice as well and I'm not sure what that means.

here:

new_word[1:len(new_word)]

you take the slice, the exercise wants you to store this slice in new_word (in essence updating the variable) and then you can print new_word on the next line
