Does anyone know which version of python I would download in order to have the dual screen display that they use in code academy?
codecademy uses a could based IDE, which provide the dual screen display, this has nothing to do with the python version
No, a cloud based editor isn’t desired when working on your PC, but there are other text-editors and IDE’s which over this functionality. Atom (atom) offers this functionality, with a small tweak. Other editors might as well, but you can always open a command prompt beside your editor to run your code
