Does anyone offer any help or customer support on this platform?

#1

I've looked for the hint in this module and it does not appear anywhere, I've also tried customer suport to no avail, does anyone know how to proceed from the Putting the form in formatter section 4 when the screen just laods and loads and doesn't instruct you on whether the input is wrong or not>

#2

Are able to display the code you were using...??

#3

I'm having the same issue. I tried to just move manually into the next lesson but it's doing the same thing. You press "save and submit code" and the gear just turns and turns and you never get a result.

#4

I'm also having the same issue. I've put in the following code:

print "What's your first name?"
first_name = gets.chomp

When I click 'save and submit code' the gear turns endlessly. Any advice welcome.

try putting a
puts "My firstname: #{first_name} "

AND/or

++ reset of Browser ++

under certain circumstances you can shoot your Browser in an
inconsistent state.

Therefor it is of an advantage to know that you have 2 reset facilities:

One is the use of the F5-key which does a refresh Browser

and

Two, select&copy your code
Then use the Reset Code button of the course-window,
then paste your code back in.

Addendum
General Notes:
Always refresh the browser after making corrections:
CTRL f5 ( if on Windows or Linux)
CMD r ( if on a MAC).

#6

I put in the following code:

"My firstname: #{first_name}"
print "What's your first name?"
first_name = gets.chomp

And it worked. I'm not understanding this yet. Thank you for your help!

I have been having the exact same issue at the exact same point in the "Putting the Form in Formatter" stage. I cut and pasted zararosess's suggested code in and I got a conflicting response: on the one hand, I got a green check mark and on the other, I got the following message in the box on the right side of the screen: undefined local variable or method `first_name' for #
What does this mean? Thanks!

@sarahflorida,
What I suggested in my post to @zararosess
try putting a puts "My firstname: #{first_name} "
was meant to be used as

##############################
# this is a single-line comment in ruby, ONLY valid as FIRST character on the code-line
# =print= will print a string, and will NOT do a new-line
print "What's your first name?"
first_name = gets.chomp
puts "My firstname: #{first_name}"

#9

Did you ever figure it out?

#10

This worked for me just now:

print "What's your first name?"
first_name = gets.chomp
print "What's your last name?"
last_name = gets.chomp
print "What's your city?"
city = gets.chomp
print "What are your state's initials?"
state = gets.chomp

2 posts were split to a new topic: This is what the "save and enter code" button is doing

#13

3 posts were split to a new topic: The save and continue button just keeps spinning

#14

I had the same issue and added the

puts "My first name:#{first_name}"

Why does this make this part of the course work? I don't understand but thank you for putting this in the forum!
