len() returns an integer value, the length of any string that is passed in its arguments.
lower() returns a string value, the same text as the string passed in its arguments, only lowercase
upper() returns a string value, the same text as the string passed in its arguments, only uppercase
str() casts another variable type into a string variable, taking things like integers and changing their type to become a string
