Differences between string formatting with % and Concatenation?

Is there any important performance difference between using % for string formatting or using a concatenation?
Personally, I would concatenate when writing short and simple string, and use % for more complex strings, but I would like to know if there's any other difference.

Here are guys who know about what you're talking. Scroll down and you'll see what you want to know.

It's just a speed diffrence, you could look at the diffrences in python 2 and 3, but I'm guessing that isn't a problem.
