Description not clear on exercise ...?

When we call a function, its return value is just the result from running the function. That value can then be used just like any other value in JavaScript!

Look at the if statement starting on line 7. The if statement is checking whether the result of calling the function named quarter is divisible by 3.

Please give some more information:
What exercise is this referring to and what is it that you don't understand?

Let's say you have a function e.g.

var square = function(x){
    return x*x;

then square(number) would have a value of number*number e.g. square(3) would be 3*3 which is 9 and you can use this value wherever you like e.g.

var a = square(3);
var c = a + square(4);
