I was curious as to what Mathematics are needed in the field of Data Science. Its seems Codecademy covers Calculus 1 and Linear Algebra Basics. I have seen a degree program at my local university which stipulate completion of Calculus 1-3, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations for the field of Data Science. I wanted to know if the basics from Codecademy would get my foot in the door as far as future employment is concerned or if I should attend university as well. Do data scientists use multivariable calculus and differential equations? Thank you for your time.
Hi, yes, the job market is competitive and data science is nothing without the mathematical foundation. Also throw in there statistics foundation. Foot in the door I guess may vary where you are in the world.
Thank you for your reply.
