This is the message when I click 'save & submit code'
[Oops, try again. It looks like your game does not change the O to a capital X for an incorrect guess.]

The code below worked as I wanted, but I can continue to next step.

It printed the result as follows with no error message on the console.

O O O O O
O O O O O

O O O O O
Guess Row: 1
Guess Col: 2

board = []

for x in range(0, 5):
board.append(["O"] * 5)

def print_board(board):
for row in board:
print " ".join(row)

print_board(board)

def random_row(board):
return randint(0, len(board) - 1)

def random_col(board):
return randint(0, len(board[0]) - 1)

ship_row = random_row(board)
ship_col = random_col(board)
guess_row = int(raw_input("Guess Row:"))
guess_col = int(raw_input("Guess Col:"))

print ship_row
print ship_col

if guess_row == ship_row and guess_col == ship_col:

else:
print "You missed my battleship!"
board[ship_row][ship_col] = "X"
print print_board(board)``````

Hi, @meigi ,

You have ...

``board[ship_row][ship_col] = "X"``

Shouldn't you be marking the location of the user's guess, rather than the actual location of the battleship?

this worked for me...

ship_row = random_row(board)
ship_col = random_col(board)
guess_row = int(raw_input("Guess Row:"))
guess_col = int(raw_input("Guess Col:"))
board[guess_row][guess_col] = "X"
