"link href="http://s3.amazonaws.com/codecademy-content/courses/ltp/css/shift.css" rel="stylesheet""
what is the significance of above code ?
Why we use it?

The <link> tag is generally used to link stylesheets to HTML pages.
See where it says 'shift.css' at the end of the URL? That is the stylesheet that you are linking to.

.css stands for Cascading Style Sheets. A stylesheet is usually in a different file, hence the link, but can also be embedded into a HTML document directly be using <style>...</style> tags.

If you want more information just tell me and I will be happy to help.

i'm linking my html page with main.css that i have made but on codecademy while learning and making we are using two links?
i can not understand the purpose?
i know i it is a css file and we are linking. i did not build it!

I know - Codecademy did it so that you don't need to do as much.

You are making main.css if I understand correctly, but this doesn't contain everything that is styling the site. You are only supposed to code a bit of it to learn it.
