CSS Help on Beginner Webpage

I have my nav bar ‘fixed’ at the top of the page, and that is working fine. However, there is a little gap above the nav where you can see the text scroll up “behind” it.

In the screenshot, that yellow area is what I’m trying to get rid of, so that as the page scrolls you can’t see it come up behind the nav. Please help.

nav {
  position: fixed;
  background: white;
  width: 100%;
  margin: 0px auto;
  text-align: center;
  font-weight: 100;
  letter-spacing: 4px;
  z-index: 10;

Looks like your html or body has a default margin.
Set this rule in your css:

html, body {
    margin: 0;
