@mohamadbahaa already gave the answer, but didn't explain why. Link is a word we use to describe this html element:

<a></a>

in the same way, we use paragraph to describe this element:

<p></p>

yet the css selector for paragraph is p (the opening tag (<p>) without < and >), same goes for the link (opening tag: <a>, css selector: a)
